The kids’ boutique Peppino celebrates its 10-year anniversary

From the godmother looking for a gift for the little godchild to the nanny who forgot to pack the kids’ hats – at Peppino, Lech’s kids’ boutique, they’ll all find what they’re looking for.

When Liz Pfefferkorn was offered the empty premises at Lech’s community office she immediately had to say yes. “The idea of opening a boutique for kids had been in my head for a long time.” The owner explains: “Back then it was hard to get anything for kids in Lech and creating their own shop seemed like the ideal thing to complement the offer of our Sporthaus Pfefferkorn.”

High quality, fair production, and individual advice

For Liz Pfefferkorn the goods’ quality is extremely important and she always looks very closely at where the clothing comes from – fair production is an important point for her. With personal advice, individual customer care, comprehensive services, and well-chosen collection Peppino is trying to counteract the flood of packages arriving from big retail chains. And according to the boutique’s owner this works also thanks to the shop’s good fairy, Edith Ess: “Finding her really was a stroke of luck, since the first day she’s been leading Peppino like it’s her own shop. She identifies with it, knows all the collections by heart, she remembers who bought what and what it could go with.”

At Peppino exclusive brands like Hacket, Steiff, Il Gufo, Elsy, and Stone Island are on offer. And for all those who are looking for special souvenirs there are t-shirts that were made together with the renowned photographer Tim Hall and that bear the name Lech in stylish lettering. “The t-shirts can be worn by everyone, young and old”, Pfefferkorn points out.

“My most ardent wish would be for somewhat larger premises closer to the centre. But maybe we’ll get the chance to rent something in the new post quarter that is just being planned.” Liz Pfefferkorn

Back then and today

Many of the young customers from back then have grown up. And because of the familiar atmosphere they still come by Peppino today, to get a gift for a friend’s newborn or a fun souvenir for a friend. Or when they expect their first offspring of their own: “Who knows, maybe we’ll get to dress our early customers’ kids some time soon”, Liz Pfefferkorn muses.

Are there any special wishes, after 10 successful years? Liz Pfefferkorn immediately comes up with one thing: “My most ardent wish would be for somewhat larger premises closer to the centre. But maybe we’ll get the chance to rent something in the new post quarter that is just being planned.” One thing is for sure: until that day the many regular customers, godmothers, nannies, and many others will continue to make their way to the boutique at Gemeindeamt.
